The redevelopment of thelinks at Tralee was started during the days of Donald Steel
& Company. The course was originally designed by Arnold Palmer in the 1980s but it was suffering under high levels of play and reconstruction of 16 of the greens was undertaken.
While this work was done, ten fairways were
extensively reshaped and every bunker rebuilt. This programme was completed in 2004, but Mackenzie & Ebert continue to advise on further possible improvements to the links, notably on the front nine.
This work includes dune creation to separate the 5th and 9th holes, new drive bunkering on the 8th and 9th and work to the carry of the
7th.
Another more major project being contemplated is the extension of the “dune” system that was created on the 18th hole, pictured above. The system would be extended over onto the 1st fairway - one of the less defined tee shots
