Golfclub
Noordwijk, Holland
The course at Noordwijkse, on the coast of Holland, is one of the three great links layouts in the country, the other two being Kennemer and the Haagsche. The original design at Noordwijkse was made by Frank Pennink in 1972. The dunescape is very dramatic but there are also some holes through dense pine forest a little further inland. Some relatively small scale projects have been completed so far, such as the addition of some bunkers, the lengthening of the 14th and the strengthening of the 18th hole with the reshaping of the area to the right of the drive.
The next stages of the development are more significant with an increase in size of the practice ground and the creation of dunes to hide the driving range structure. This has a knock on effect to the 1st and 2nd holes. A new green will be built at the 1st and there will be a change of alignment to the 2nd tee shot. There are also plans for new greens at the 11th and 12th and various new tees to make the course a fitting test for the elite golfers. The Dutch Open has been played on the course on a number of occasions and there is a possibility of a return.
