The very successful project at CampoReal, to the north of Lisbon, is soon to be bolstered by a further nine holes. The land for the new holes is equally dramatic as the original course which was designed by Donald Steel & Company.
Three loops of nine will form the layout of the course, which requires the splitting up of the existing back nine of the course. The three loops will be focussed upon the centre piece Westin Hotel which opened in August 2007.
There will be another hotel built as part of the Manjapão phase and this has a stunning, elevated location overlooking the original course and the new 12th and 13th holes. There will also be villa plots and apartments overlooking the course.
There will be some very dramatic shots to be played with the drive at the 14th being the most exhilarating. It will be played from a very high tee, over the tops of a stand of cork oaks whichlie well below the golfer.
