Four
Seasons Resort
Grenada, West Indies
Not all that long ago, US Forces landed on Grenada to overthrow a Cuban backed Marxist government. Now it is flourishing with tourism at the heart of this boom. A major project for the island is the Four Seasons Resort on what was once the Mount Hartmann Estate.
I t is a beautiful site with steep volcanic hills, narrow valleys, wider plains, beautiful coastline and a large island.
The golf meanders up and down the valleys, creating some gloriously isolated holes. There are nature reserves off to either side which are home to the endemic Grenada dove.
The layout is unusual in that it features six par threes, two of which are consecutive, but that is what the contours of the land dictate. The aim is always to create the best eighteen holes, regardless of par.
This will be another project to use the highly salt tolerantSeashore Paspalum grass.
