Ilha da Cazanga
Without doubt the most unexpected project in our portfolio is Ilha da Cazanga, on an uninhabited island off Luanda, the capital of Angola.
A resort development with two hotels, two hundred houses, a marina, 24 holes of golf plus an extensive academy, this is one of the most ambitious projects in Africa.
An attraction of the site is that the land is wonderfully sandy - ideal for the creation of true links holes. Eight of them will hug the coast of the island. Salt marshes, savannah grassland, palm trees and the ubiquitous Baobab trees emphasise the African character but the course will have a definite Scottish, seaside flavour to it.
It will be another opportunity to apply the tropical links knowledge gained during the successful Abaco Club On Winding Bay project in the Bahamas, where Seashore Paspalum has performed superbly in replicating links turf.
