The Bahamas

The Abaco Club On Winding Bay is a small, tropical resort set on a remote peninsula on the Island of Abaco in the Bahamas. Wedged between
the depths of the Atlantic Ocean on one side and some of the best bonefishing waters on the other, it is a tropical paradise.

Rolling sand dunes are an unexpected feature of fifteen of the holes, with three more atop high cliffs. It is an authentic links course, albeit with somewhat warmer weather than St. Andrews or Sandwich. One of the big challenges of the project in the Tropics was replicating the firm, fast conditions of historic links. This has been achieved with the use of Seashore Paspalum on greens, tees and fairways.

The Club includes some 60 home sites and 75 cottages, all of which we sited as part of the golf course design process. They have proved to be extremely popular.

“There are so many memorable holes at Abaco that I could probably write
a book about them”
